Gratitude for Every Day

Gratitude

“Gratitude elevates your life to a higher frequency.” Oprah Winfrey

An attitude of gratitude must be cultivated to reap the benefits.

I say must here because it is crucial to success in any field. We attract ideas and people who are on the same vibration. Since gratitude and thankfulness are two attitudes that exude a high vibration, we will attract people and have positive and fun ideas to work with and be around. Just as iron filings are attracted to a magnet, so are the positive attitudes drawn to us and our situation. Working in this wonderfully high-energy field means that we continue to find great ideas and abundance in many forms. You know this feeling! You have experienced it many times before. Let’s say you are excited and happy to go to a gathering. You walk into a room full of people, and the atmosphere is charged with positive energy. As you enter this group with an attitude of gratitude, you are instantly accepted and surrounded by high vibrational energy.

Each day we are given a choice to make. Shall we approach the day with sadness and gloom or shall we choose joy and gratitude? It is not easy some days to make a positive choice. Yet our attitude is wholly in our control. So how can we develop this habit? One step is to start each morning by invoking your guardian angel and perhaps Archangel Michael to stand beside you and be there to support you.

Another practice I highly recommend is keeping a Gratitude Journal. Add to it every morning and then again, each evening. Begin your day by saying something like, “I am so happy and grateful now that I am ……. Thank you, Angels/God/Spirit, for bringing this into my life.”

Be Present. Be Open. See everything with wonder and mystery.

Looking for some sunshine?

Looking for some sunshine?

Yes! It’s still very winter here in Upstate New York. We have had snow falling every day and it shows no signs of stopping. Hey! It’s NY and it’s January! Goes with the territory as they say.

We are often deterred by the weather, the snow, the rain, the wind, the sun or the lack of sunshine. Why do we let these common weather effects change our moods, change our plans or even make us grumpy or cranky? Inside of each of us we can hold the sunshine in our solar plexus and allow it to permeate our entire body. We carry the Spirit of God within us, and this glowing light is there no matter what outside influences are there. I suggest that we stop and locate our inner light, our inner strength, our inner spirit. Spend a few minutes just being in that light. Can you imagine any outside influences dimming that spirit? Now allow the sunny light of spirit shine out of your eyes and face. Step out into the world, carrying your own sunshine wherever you go.

I led a meditation class at the Henrietta Senior Center yesterday for the first time. There were 14 people there, some well experienced in meditation and others who were new. A wonderful energy gathered in that room, and we connected to the earth and to those around us for wonderful relaxation and calmness. The title of the Meditation was Nature’s Massage. WE envisioned the sun and gentle breezes and the waves of the lake unfurling the kinks and aches in our bodies. If you are in the Rochester area, you are welcome to join us next month, Feb 28 at 11:00.

Gloriously Grateful

Introduction

My book, Gloriously Grateful, is the story of my journey with Stage 4 colon cancer through diagnosis, treatment, and finally back to a “normal” life. And now the question in your mind is,” What does that have to with gratitude?”

Yes, having cancer stinks! Yes, I was ill most of the time over the three years. Yes, there were a lot of dark times.  Yet there were times, even if for just a minute or two, of a spark of gratefulness. I discovered that joy and gratitude were choices that I could make. Having cancer and especially during treatments, most of my life felt totally out of my control. I didn’t consciously choose to have cancer, but I could choose my attitude and how I approached it.

For instance, after a few months of treatments, I dreaded going to the cancer clinic. But when I got there, I appreciated and was very grateful for the cheerful, skilled staff. I know that they see hundreds of patients each week, yet they treated me as if I was the only one in there, and I was their favorite for sure. They were attentive and careful with my care, both physically and mentally.

These are the reasons that Gloriously Grateful is the title of my book. I want to share how I got to that point and what I have learned about why we need to live in gratitude every day. This blog is the start of helping you to understand this journey and to encourage you to get on the gratitude train for a trip of your own.
